Hi all.
Welcome to the start of the new academic year to
all returnees and warm welcome to all new First Years as they embark on their
geological journey!
A few changes this year. The new Society
President is Angela Walker. We wish her well for the coming year and would
like to thank the outgoing President Andrew Roughan for all his work.
Another change is an increase in subscriptions. Unfortunately, we have had
our budget slashed dramatically by the Union the past couple of years and in
order to continue providing you with the activities and services you have become
used to, have had to increase the fee from £5 to £7.
The Christmas party has been arranged for
Thursday, 14th December at the Potion Bar. Tickets are £10 and available
from Angela, Elana and a few others. Buy your tickets early so you do not
miss out!!!
As most of you already know this semester's
weekend Field Trip is to North Wales and will be led by Dr Bryn Roberts
(formerly of Birkbeck Earth Sciences). Angela will be posting notices in
the next few days so sign up early. As with previous trips, deposits will
be required up front and a £10 fuel surcharge will be payable by those electing
to travel by coach.
I will be updating the 'Eminent Guest Speaker'
series dates when known
